Hey there! I'm Ren, and I'm the brains behind 4Hein :) I've loved music since I was born (a big part thanks to my dad and I's long roadtrips) and have been playing instruments since I was 11.
I use Logic Pro for all my solo work, and I've built an extensive collection of analog-emulation VSTs that I play around with frequently in my tracks. My personal favourites are Korg's ARP2600 plugin, Arturia's prophet V3 emulation and the Arturia Minifreak (the hardware version being used for all my midi) ! I mix + master all my tracks myself (even if it takes forever). I also made this website!
While I have a great music theory understanding, I tend not to use it when writing and instead focus on stumbling around sounds and melodies I like. The 4Hein sound is not meant to be centered around one specific subgenre, but rather described with the broader term of 'electronic music'. This is because while all my discography has (and will have) synthesis as its main focus, I enjoy melding different subgenres into something new every time.
My favourite things to sample are STEM-related 1950s documentaries :) I take inspiration from artists such as Underworld, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin and more !
